About École Yaldei School
École Yaldei School is a private school that is recognized and subsidized in the public interest by the Ministère de l'Éducation du Québec (MEQ). We serve students aged 4 to 16 with intellectual disabilities moderate to profound and autism spectrum disorders with intellectual challenges. These students may or may not have associated physical disabilities. Instruction is offered only in English.

Admission is reserved to students who meet the criteria for École Yaldei School:
Children with moderate to severe intellectual disability
Children with profound intellectual disability
Children with autism spectrum disorder with intellectual disability.
ComplImentary services
We offer complimentary professional services in the classroom. We have specialized classrooms the TEACCH Structured ABA principled approach of learning for children with autism.

CURRICULUM
There are 3 separate curriculums offered at Yaldei School, A Competency-Based Approach to Social Participation (CASP), Profound Educational Impairment, and the standard QEP adapted or modified to respond to the student’s needs.
Our school offers a ratio 1:3 for each classroom. Each specialized education teacher is supported by a minimum of two qualified teaching assistants.
We have a trans-disciplinary team of therapists who offer complementary professional services. Speech, Occupational, Physiotherapy, Music and Art therapy classes are given weekly in each class. Individual therapies are provided when requested by the therapists and school director.
Certification
Students who are enrolled in the Challenges Program for students over 16, will receive an Attestation of Competencies by the Ministère de l'Éducation du Québec (MEQ) upon completion of 900 hours of training in Section I (Basic Subjects) and 1000 hours of training in Section II (Social Integration) at the end of their schooling period.
Students Enrolled in the Educational Program for Students with a Profound Intellectual Impairment will receive an Attestation of Competencies granted they have completed 600 hours of schooling in the final three years of their schooling period.
Students who are enrolled in the QEP modified program are able to receive an attestation of studies upon completion of their schooling at 16 OR may be eligible to receive a Pre-Work Training Certificate upon completion of the requirements if attending school past the age of 16. Students enrolled in the QEP modified program are not eligible to receive a Secondary School Diploma.
SCHEDULE OF CLASSES
Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
The classroom follows a schedule, as outlined by the ministry, with the hours corresponding to the ministry regulations. The students have snack time, lunchtime, two recesses, free play, structured activities, as well as one on one work periods. Our focus is on academics, communication and social interaction, safety and security, and independent living skills. Each of the students begins the year with an individualized education plan which is re-evaluated with parents and professionals three times a year. Each of the students has specific classroom and therapy goals which are worked on a daily basis.
